"She looked at him sorrowfully and said with a sigh, ‘When Resentment and the others (Pride, Bitterness and Self-Pity) are shouting at me I am almost ready to believe anything, no matter how preposterous."

When we are under attack from our enemies, they are prone to tell us lies. Once in church my pastor said, "A self-defeating attitude is a lie you are believing." Our enemies get us to believe lies. When you are down, I mean the kind of down where - "everybody hates me, no one likes me, I think I’ll eat a can of worms" type down - it is so easy to believe the lies. There have been times where I felt abandoned, heartbroken and let my enemies tell me, "You deserve this." I would sit, sulk, bring to mind all the other hurts and say, "See you are a loser." Don’t listen to the enemies they want to keep you from victory. Rebuke the enemy in the name of Jesus and he will flee.

Prayer: Sweet Jesus when I am weak and I start listening to the enemy, help me to keep my focus on you. Give me some kind of alternative that will take my attentions off the shouting enemy. Close off my ears to their shouts. Lift up my spirit. Help me to capture the lies and send them out of my head. I don’t want to believe the lies anymore!
