"Others have gone this way before me, she thought, and they could even
sing about it afterwards. Will he who is so strong and gentle be less faithful and
gracious to me, weak and cowardly though I am, when it is so obvious that the thing
that he delights in the most of all is to deliver his followers from all their fears
and to take them to the High Places?"
I was afraid of many things, up until a few years ago, which is why I relate so
well to this book. Fear holds us back from victorious living or living in general.
We might think that God is frustrated with our silly fears and gets tired of listening
to us cower in the corner. I don’t believe that is the case. He delights in us.
He delights in me (it has taken sometime to believe that) and he delights in YOU
- just believe it. And when he puts you in situations that frighten you it is in
order for you not to cower, but to overcome. He wants nothing more to see His Children
be delivered from the fears we cling to.
Prayer: Lord you know my fears and they hold me from further service of you,
they keep me pushing people away, they keep me from doing things that are adventurous,
they keep me from living. Lord one by one deliver me from my fears. So I can walk
this life in victory and hope and not fearing the next catastrophe or ring of the
phone. You alone in your grace and mercy and faith and love can cast away fear.
Remind me always that "perfect love casts away fear" and your love is
perfect.
