Pack Another Box Redesigning a webpage is a lot like moving. I’ve done it four times now and hope not to repeat the task anytime soon.

The Peace Treaty Whenever we have experienced conflict in our marriage, it has been because either my husband or I, or both of us have started going contrary to the Word of God. In our case, most times, it is me going against the Word of God, and not my husband.

Simplicity Lost I’m weary of saying No to my children. Not just the everyday No’s. Don’t hit your brother and No, you cannot have 5 pieces of candy. I am weary of the No I am continually saying to our culture.

Oh, Nothing She stood by my desk, silently staring and smiling. I was in the midst of another Monday’s early morning rush and was not ready for the onslaught of second-graders who were just entering the classroom.

Not What I Expected I thought that I would be thinner. I thought a paycheck would last beyond a weekend. I believed that loved ones would live forever. I thought I would be published by now. I thought that parenting became easier with practice. I was under the false impression that I would embrace gray hairs…

Unburdening Your Heart I was having a hard time seeing as I drove to church. The windshield wipers were doing their job, but I felt I needed a set of my own to wash away my flood of tears.

Like Mother, Like Daughter I bent to push the cake pan in the oven and felt a wave of heat push its way into my pores. Closing the door quickly, I pushed the vinyl buttons that set the oven's timer; Twenty- five minutes, or until done. That's what the recipe had said. Still, I was a little bit afraid the results would turn out less than favorable. I'd pulled too many flat cakes from the oven to not wonder.

Questions Without a doubt, the ragged man sitting next to me was homeless and alone. It’s hard to guess how long it might have been since he enjoyed a decent night’s rest, or a meal that consisted of something other than table scraps or prepackaged snacks, but it might have been days, perhaps weeks. I tried not to stare at him; I even hesitated to make eye contact.

Spring Cleaning Spring is my favorite season! I love to throw open the windows and smell the three varieties of daffodils and hyacinths blooming outside near our front walk. God’s variety makes me smile. Seeing all the fresh new shoots of green reminds me of God’s promise of new life for us. But smelling those flowers also gets me in the mood for spring cleaning.
